![]() If you’ve been charitable enough to read this far, let me tell you the next obstacle I anticipate meeting. ![]() Next Question (not quite so dumb): Since I’m mainly interested in burning DVDs, can I proceed on the assumption that the External Optical drive ASUS SDRW-08D2S-U will successfully burn my next masterpiece, even though I cannot view a DVD using it? (I think I already know the answer.) Does this mean my Mac OS X 10.6.8 cannot play a DVD? Pardon the dumb-soundingness of this next question. I’ve gone to Apple menu>About This Mac>More Info> then to the Hardware list, selected ATA to find “This computer doesn’t contain any ATA devices.” To discover if my Mac has a DVD Player, I followed the Mac Help instructions. BUPs lead me to iTunes (Movies), where the video does not appear. VOBs lead me to iPhoto where I am told the files are unreadable. The VIDEO_TS leads me to a large number of. However, when I click onto the Disk, I get a rectangle with folders AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS. The Mac recognizes the new drive, and when I insert a DVD into it, the Disk with its title appears on my desktop. ![]() I am testing out a brand-new External Optical drive ASUS SDRW-08D2S-U for use with my Mac OS X 10.6.8.
